Background - Prodigal Son

Jesus used this beautiful parable to illustrate God's desire to have everyone under the protection of His love. It also shows the folly of trying to find happiness apart from your Heavenly Father. 

As you read and meditate on the Prodigal Son resources below, notice how each character, the father, the older son and the younger son, react to the same situation. Don't be like the older brother who was ignorant of all that was his. Receive all that God has given you with joy. And like the younger son, never forget that no matter how far you stray from God, there will be a heavenly celebration on your return.
